Traveler Video: Students Protest in Chile For Free Education

Planet Vagabond comes across the students riots shaking Chile at its core at the moment. Thousands of protesters are in the street, fighting against the North American model of private university education. They are chanting for free education and many of their teachers are siding with them. This was an amazing moment to share with them on the road. Their claims are not far from the occupy wall street ones. I saw a wonderful sign with more political force than the media would ever allow: “we are not from the right, we are not from the left, we are from the bottom and we are coming for the top”.

Photos from Chile

Camera at hand, these are the pictures of our travel through Chile. By the way, Chileans are amongst the friendliest, most helpful people we have come across until this point. There is no other to point and shoot through Chile but going across the entire country from north to south and in details from:

  • Our arrival in Chile at San Pedro de Attacama,
  • An exciting backpacking stay in La Serena,
  • Terramotos in Santiago where Lauren arrived for her glorious 1st backpacker adventure,
  • Artistic inspiration in Valparaiso,
  • An insular drop of Chiloe,
  • The entire Pantagonia from the point of view of the Navimag ferry cruise,
  • And penguins. You need some penguin loving.

This is the travel photo library I have built with world pictures taken while backpacking throughout the country of Bolivia. Our favorite spots were:

  • The comfortable city of Lima
  • The even more comfortable city of Sucre
  • A slice of culture at the Tarabuco market
  • Potosi and its incredible Silver mine
  • The beautiful Salt Flats of Uyuni
